THE THIRD EDITION OF THIS EVENT, ORGANIZED BY ERNESTO VENTÓS FROM EV GASTRO, WILL ONCE AGAIN TAKE AN INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION BY WELCOMING JANAÍNA RUEDA, THE WORLD’S 50 BEST FEMALE CHEF 2024

ALONGSIDE HER, THE CHEFS PACO RONCERO, AITOR ARREGI AND ANTONIO BELOTTI WILL COMPLETE THIS YEAR’S SPECTACULAR LINE-UP

The third edition of the Menorc4manos Festival has started to be cooked and will be ready to kick off with its first four-handed event on the 29th of July. Ernesto Ventós, from the company EV Gastro, is the creator and organizer of this event, and has already confirmed the chefs who will travel to Menorca this summer to place the Balearic Island once again in the international gastronomic spotlight.

Ernesto Ventós loves Menorca and for this reason, in 2022 he chose this Balearic Island as the venue for his summer gastronomic event. He wanted to focus attention on this land, using one of its great treasures as an impulse: its gastronomy. This is how Menorc4manos was born, with the aim of offering a top-level culinary proposal to both locals and tourists who visit the island during August. This summer, Ernesto is embarking on the third edition of the festival, which reaffirms his personal commitment to promoting local gastronomy and projecting it to the world.

This new edition will be held in different locations around the island, and three host restaurants have been selected. There, the guest chefs will move their cuisine to Menorca for one night to offer a four-hands menu together with local chefs.

The first venue will be the historic Café Balear, in the heart of the Port of Ciutadella. A classic reference point for the island’s gastronomy, which will welcome Paco Roncero on 29th July at lunchtime to cook alongside his head chef Sergio Villalonga. This chef from Madrid is one of the best chefs in the world, included for years in the Top100 list of The Best Chef Awards and one of the greatest representatives of the Spanish gastronomic avant-garde. In addition to his long and successful career at the helm of Paco Roncero Restaurant in Madrid (2 MICHELIN Stars, 3 Repsol Suns and part of 50 Best Discovery), Paco is known worldwide for his links with another of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza. On that island every summer he directs Sublimotion, the first performance in the world where the gastronomic vanguard and technological innovation are key to creating an immersive sensory experience that is unique in the world.

On Monday, 5 August, the festival will move to En Caragol in Sant Lluis. This emblematic restaurant located on the front line of the south coast of Menorca is the setting chosen to welcome Aitor Arregi, the soul and host of Elkano. Aitor and his team will cook for one night with head chef Javier Riaño and his brigade. The essence of one of the most famous grills in the world, (1 MICHELIN Star, 3 Repsol Suns and positioned for more than 6 years among the 50 best restaurants in the world by the list The World’s 50 Best Restaurants), will disembark its particular culinary landscape on the island of Menorca. A latitude not so unfamiliar to Aitor and his team, as since last summer they have been running the Guethary restaurant in Palma de Mallorca. This restaurant is in the Iberostar Selection Playa hotel, and there they cook fish and seafood from the Mediterranean, as well as vegetables and other rich local ingredients that are sure to be the stars of this dinner.

For the last two dinners, the festival will travel to the area of the island where it all began, to Son Parc and specifically to Chiringuito ES POP, and they will do so with a particular Brazilian accent. Here, once again this year, the chef Pruden Izquierdo will be the host for the two nights that will mark the end of the event. On 12 August, it will be the young chef Antonio Belotti who will bring his cuisine from Donostia to ES POP. This chef, born in Brazil, moved to Gipuzkoa to study and was in the city of San Sebastián, where he has put down roots, opened his restaurant Casa 887 and created his family. With the search for the best products in the markets as the driving force to cook his dishes, Belotti will bring his vision of a free, worldly cuisine, with soul and a great deal of sensitivity. In his short career, Belotti has received different awards such as the ‘Young Promise Award’ BMW Más Gastronomía. Furthermore, he was included in the list of ‘100 Young Talents’ prepared by the Basque Culinary Center, and from 2023, Casa 887 will be included in the MICHELIN Guide as a recommended restaurant.

And to close the third edition of Menorc4manos, on the 19th of August, the Brazilian chef Janaína Rueda, one of the great international gastronomic sensations of recent years, will land in Menorca. This chef, sommelier, businesswoman and activist is a world gastronomic reference, having been elected a few weeks ago The World’s Best Female Chef 2024 and last year Latin America’s Best Female, both awards given by The World’s 50 Best. She also runs with Jefferson Rueda the restaurant A Casa do Porco Bar in São Paulo, which is currently ranked number 4 on the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list and number 12 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The menu that night is sure to include all the knowledge that this great chef has of traditional Brazilian gastronomy, to which she brings a very creative vision when preparing her recipes.

These four are the chefs who take over from Enrique Valentí (Adobo in Barcelona), David López (Local de Ensayo in Murcia), Max Colombo (Xemei in Barcelona), Naoyuki Haginoya (Grupo Nomo in Catalonia and Madrid), Omar Ben-Hammou (Lila Restaurant in Fuengirola), João Rodrigues (Canalha in Lisbon), Óscar Velasco (VelascoAbellà in Madrid) and Vicky Sevilla (Arrels in Valencia) to give a tour of this festival in its third edition.

The menus will be designed exclusively for each of the events and will represent the different ways of feeling the gastronomy of its participants, which will turn each of the days into a different and unique event.

For Ernesto Ventós and EV Gastro, this new edition represents the consolidation of Menorc4manos Festival and positions it as one of the most important gastronomic events of the summer in our country. With this event, they offer the opportunity to enjoy an original, unique, and unforgettable culinary experience to all those who visit Menorca during the month of August. But, above all, it opens a window of Menorca and the Balearic Islands to the world through gastronomy. The aim behind all is that all those who have not yet been able to do so can fall in love with this land, its people, its culture and all the natural riches it has to surprise the world.
