RICARD CAMARENA WELCOMES JAIME PESAQUE TO HIS RESTAURANT IN VALENCIA

CHEF JAIME PESAQUE WILL BE HOSTING TONIGHT’S DINNER, JOINED BY RICARD CAMARENA AND HIS TEAM

Tonight, Ricard Camarena Restaurant (València) will host a special gastronomic event in which the chef-owner will welcome Peruvian chef Jaime Pesaque, who will be responsible for designing the entire menu for the evening.

This event marks the continuation of a collaboration that began in January 2025 in Lima, when Camarena travelled to Peru to take part in the 16th anniversary of Mayta, the restaurant led by Pesaque. That gathering, held in the Peruvian capital, brought both chefs together around a menu through which they explored the diversity of Peru’s regions, using techniques characteristic of their respective cuisines to highlight the value of native ingredients.

Tonight, the experience moves to València as a natural extension of the relationship they have built over time, both professionally and personally. They share many common traits in their approach to cooking, one of the most significant being their deep connection to their territories. For both chefs, product and landscape are ways of expressing where they come from and whom they represent.

An event centred on Jaime Pesaque’s cuisine

On this occasion, the dinner is conceived as an opportunity for Jaime Pesaque to present his vision of contemporary Peruvian cuisine in València. A personal proposal, closely connected to the biodiversity of his country, its gastronomic heritage, and ongoing research into ingredients and their many possibilities.

Ricard Camarena will act as host, together with his kitchen and front-of-house teams, working side by side with the Mayta team that has travelled from Lima for the occasion. Both teams have been working as one over the past few days, in an exchange of knowledge that enriches everyone involved and highlights the affinities shared by Jaime and Ricard in their understanding of cuisine: two well-defined gastronomic philosophies with strong identities, united by respect for product, territory, and the people who make it all possible.

Tonight’s culinary proposal will be signed exclusively by Jaime, in an evening designed to bring diners a taste of Mayta in València.

Two careers, one shared philosophy

Jaime Pesaque, chef of Mayta Restaurant (No. 39 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 and No. 11 in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025) in Lima, has established himself as one of the most representative voices of contemporary Peruvian cuisine, with work focused on reinterpreting territory and researching native ingredients. Since 2022, he has been part of Forbes’ list of the 50 most creative Peruvians, and in 2025 he received the Summum Award for Best Author’s Cuisine, one of the most prestigious recognitions in Peruvian gastronomy.

Ricard Camarena, at the helm of Ricard Camarena Restaurant (2 MICHELIN Stars and 1 MICHELIN Green Star, 3 Soles and Sustainable Sol Repsol Guide) in València, is one of the most renowned chefs for his commitment to sustainability and a cuisine deeply rooted in its environment. His career is defined by respect for product, seasonality, and the full use of ingredients from the garden and the Mediterranean Sea—an approach that has earned him, among other accolades, the title of Chef of the Year at Madrid Fusión in 2021 and Best International Chef by Identità Golose in 2019.

Both chefs are also very well known in their home countries and are seen as ambassadors of their local cuisines beyond their borders. Their work has also been acknowledged internationally, including with two knives each in The Best Chef Awards guide, which recognizes some of the most influential chefs in the global gastronomic scene.

Tonight’s dinner represents another step in the relationship that Ricard and Jaime have built on mutual admiration and respect and will offer the public in València the opportunity to experience Pesaque’s cuisine up close in a truly special setting.
